Mishnah Sanhedrin 4:5 gives us some important information about the concept of human dignity in Judaism. The way witnesses in capital punishment trials were warned about the gravity of their testimony tells us how crucial the rabbis felt it was to avoid making mistakes that could cost an innocent person's life. Each individual's life is infinitely unique and infinitely precious: "whoever saves one soul of Israel, Scripture accounts it as if she had saved a full world."
